James Walter ‘Jim’ Cerchione
hione, 81, of Hayesville died Saturday, July 12, 2014 in a Murphy Care Center. He was a native of Brooklyn, N.Y., but had lived in Clay County for the past 33 years. Jim received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Brooklyn College. He had worked as a salesman for Pontiac and was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.

He was the son of the late Gino and Rosina Agatone Cerchione. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Richard Cerchione.

Surviving are his wife, Marie Amorosa Cerchione; a son, Corey J. Cerchione and wife, Kellie of Cumming, Ga.; a sister, Carole Porta of Plano, Texas; two grandchildren, Chase Glover and Haley Hawkins.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 26 in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Father Alex Ayala officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of James Walter ‘Jim’ Cerchione to the Clay County Food Pantry, PO Box 853, Hayesville, N.C. 28904 or to the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, PO Box 546, Murphy, N.C. 28906. Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville in charge of all arrangements.
